Explore
Many people use Plockton as a base for exploring the Skye and Lochalsh region. A circuit of the Isle of Skye, with its stunning scenery of Cuillin mountain range and sea loch, and historic Dunvegan Castle, can be completed comfortably within a day.
Eileen Donan Castle at Dornie has an upgraded visitor's centre and gives a fascinating insight to castle life in the sixteen hundreds.
The prehistoric brochs at Glenelg were built by the first inhabitants of the land as communal dwelling places and forts. They sit quietly in the glen as an eerie evocation of time gone by.
Take the famous Am Bealach road, a winding and precipitous succession of hair-pin bends, once a cattle-drove route, to the summit of the Applecross hills. A challenge to the motor car let alone the walker or cyclist, the view from the top is worth the effort.
